Pro Dental Gel - Pet Toothpaste Superb!Jun 26, 2012
By Tabitha This is the most outstanding toothpaste I have ever used. I bought it at a local pet store chain, and it is extremely effective in preventing dental problems in dogs.
I used it on my rescue London (aka Max) the American Eskimo because his owner had neglected his diet (cheap food--Iiams), skin care, and teeth.
He had bad breath, rotting teeth, and black, green, and red gums. He had floating teeth and plaque build up like you wouldn't believe.
The Vet said his dental care would cost me $300 for just the cleaning, and another $80 for the blood test. I read an article in a pet magazine and decided to try brushing his teeth myself, and applying PetzLife dental gel.
The combination of the great toothpaste and PetzLife saved his teeth. Within a week, his breath was better, his teeth tightened, and the black, green, pink build up around his teeth and gums was reduced.
After a month, it was all gone. He even began chewing toys and bones again. The bleeding during the brushing also stopped. I continue to use the toothpaste on my two ShihTzus Hampshire and Darby.
The Vet is constantly surprised at how white their teeth are, but during our last visit she noticed build up on their teeth. I had switched to another brand and it was much less effective.
I'm tossing the other brand and going back to what actually works.
Pros:
Thick gel that adheres to gums and teeth Nice size quantity for your money 4 oz. Easy to squeeze plastic tub Reduces and eliminates plaque build up Freshens breath Eliminates severe dental problems Saves teeth

My corgi does not like thisOct 02, 2012
By ricz008 I bought this product due to its good review in Amazon for my welsh corgi dog. My corgi doesn't like this product at all as he trying to spit out this product when I applied to him. I can not really blame the product; I think it all depends on the dog itself.
Works great.May 22, 2013
By Miriam Crum My dog is not crazy about getting her teeth cleaned, but she tolerates it and the product works great at cleaning her teeth.
If you have a cooperative pet ...May 14, 2013
By Robert Lindelof This item works well if your pet will let you brush its teeth. My dog seems to like the flavor but took some doing to get her to allow me to brush her teeth as I normally get it done at the vet but this saves big $$$. I bought it with a separate combination dog angled toothbrush and finger toothbrush kit and the more I do it the more she is compliant as I give her a treat afterwards. It is like anything new for your pet, just takes some patience and gentle treatment.
Fresh Minty BreathApr 27, 2013

I probably like this toothpaste more than my dog does. I had been using a chicken flavored toothpaste, however my dog was more interested in eating it than allowing me to actually brush her teeth. I also didn't like how the chicken flavor left my dog with stinky "chicken breath." After trying Prodental gel i'll never go back to the other kind.
This toothpaste isn't quite as palatable for the dog, but gives fresh minty breath. My dog tolerates the flavor since she is good about letting me brush her teeth. I would suggest that if you are just starting to brush your dog's teeth, or if your dog isn't very cooperative, you should get them started with one of the meat flavored toothpastes, and then switch to this.
Overall this is a great product that cleans the teeth and freshens breath very well.
