Kelco's De-Mat Spray is a ready-to-use multi-purpose coat conditioner / sealer that can be used in the following ways:
Before the bath as a dematting agent. Simply spritz onto the matted hair and work into the coat. De-Mat Spray closes the cuticle and makes the coat slippery which makes brushing out matted or tangled coats faster and easier and protects the coat from un-necessary damage while dematting.
After the bath as a leave in conditioner and coat sealer. Spray evenly over the clean, damp, towel dried dog and work into the coat. Avoid eyes. Dry as usual. De-Mat leaves the coat smooth and shiny without oily residue. In fact, De-Mat will help to prevent future matting because it seals and smoothes the cuticle and a smooth healthy coat is less likely to become matted than an open dry, brittle coat.

Use as a finishing spritz and polish for short or smooth coated dogs. Mix with water and spritz very lightly and evenly over the clean, dry coat and wipe with a chamois or lint free cloth.

Kelco De Mat Spray for Pet GroomingJun 09, 2010

I am very satisfied with this purchase of Kelco De Mat Spray, which is used on a cat which has just been bathed, to enable the tangles to comb out easily while one is blow-drying the cat. Persian cats which have very fine full coats can be quite challenging to groom, and this product is the best that I have found in 35 years as a breeder of Persians and Himalayans. I am glad that I purchased more than one bottle, so as to share it with other breeders who may not know about it. I especially like that the spray that comes out is very fine, and distributes itself nicely over the cat's coat.

I'm a shih tzu owner. My dog has a long coat that can be quite a challenge sometimes and that requires a lot of maintenance. This spray does help to comb his hair out easily. I'm sure my dog is happier because I don't have to pull out his hair now if there is any mat. It also leaves a delicate fragrance and his hair is smooth and shiny.
