My Chiweenie loves her Mini Roadkill Squirrel with crinkley tail!May 23, 2010

My chiweenie 'borrowed' a toy like this from a puppy I was petsitting for and she just loved it. The crinkley tail is her favorite part. She has never really showed interest in any of the other toys I have brought home for her. I couldn't find one of these toys at any of our local pet stores and I knew she would be sad to see the toy go when the puppy went home to his owners. I was so glad to find one on Amazon and it came to us within only a few days. This way my chiweenie had her own squirrel before her puppy friend took his back home with him!

Tough little toy that my dogs have blast playing with. They love shaking it like something they just caught (I think the crinkly sound the tail makes when it is shaken really gets them excited) and I am able to play tug-of-war with them and they go crazy when I squeak the head and have them chase it. This little guy is able to hold up to the stresses of pulling and chewing so far and is definitely their favorite toy.

We were given one of these as a "baby shower" present when we got our Pomeranian puppy, and he fell in love with it. Almost a year later, it's pretty threadbare and has been through the wash several times, but he knows it by name, it's the first toy he picks up when he comes in from outside or gets out of bed in the morning, and we really can't travel without it. The crackly tail, the squeaker in the head, and the floppy body make it completely perfect for smaller mouths to grab and toss and tumble around with. I ordered several "replacement otters" now that the first one's life is most likely coming to an end and hope to be able to switch it out with success when the time comes.
