I got fleas!Sep 20, 2009
By Schwartz So it would seem that there are a lot of fleas outside this year. We don't even have pets and we have fleas inside now. I guess they hitchhiked in on our clothing. Now they are inside and having a ball biting us. We've been sweeping a lot because I read that is the most effective thing to do. However there are those they get away. They don't want caught. They always seem to be finding us. So I picked up a couple of these traps. They seem to work well at attracting and catching the stragglers. The trap is basically a nightlight bulb suspended over a grid that has a sticky pad under it. The fleas are attracted to the heat and light from the bulb and jump at it and then fall through the grid onto the sticky pad. I know you can do the same thing with a lamp and a bowl of soapy water on the floor but these traps are nice because you can grab them and move them around easily without accidentally spilling or having to change the water all the time. My kid leaves it alone too, he thinks it is his new nightlight. I don't think we have a bad infestation but I caught the most the first couple of nights and then it has dropped off to a couple now and then so I think sweeping and these traps have been helping and will soon eliminate the fleas. Overall I think this trap is a great supplement to whatever arsenal you choose to use in the battle against the fleas.

This works great.Oct 21, 2009

If this trap is the only light on at night if you have fleas you will catch them. I use these (I have two) under couches and stuff to monitor my flea problem. When I first purchased these we had a big problem and the traps filled up almost daily now they are clean and our fleas are gone. It takes a few weeks to get rid of fleas and you need to use every way possible to battle them but this is a great tool to use in the battle.
You must treat the pet. You must vacuum every two days. You must spray the floors as fleas stay on the ground so no need to bomb whole house.(don't mop after spraying) The cycle for fleas is about every two weeks so after 4 to 6 weeks all the fleas should be just about gone. (Remember just keep only this trap light on at night!)
Again these trap are great for monitoring your flea situation and should keep you ahead of the battle. GOOD LUCK!

Flea Trap WORKS!Nov 03, 2009

Having owned a pet store, I have used several expensive methods of flea extermination in my line of work. Fleas are annoying, and carry disease. This one will work! Don't waste your money on expensive sprays and chemicals, just do the simple thing and attract them to light! We put this beside our bed after vacuuming the carpet...it got them! The sticky pad will capture those little buggers quickly! Saves untold scratching and aggravation by humans and pets. No smell! Safe and effective.

Good in addition to . . .Sep 18, 2010
By heenalu5 I agree with one of the other reviews. This is good as a supplement to whatever other arsenal you are using. I didn't know this was electrical. There is no plug in the photo. Didn't know it had a bright light too. At night it illuminates the room pretty well. Tough if you don't like going to sleep with the lights on. But it does trap fleas. Not like they all jump off your dog or couch or where ever they hide and into the trap. It's a slow process, but it does work.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR FLEA CONTROLAug 07, 2011
By Tricia (Abingdon, MD) My cats are kept indoors, but this year I found my apartment being invaded by fleas in June. I think our relatively mild winter and the extremely hot temperatures we have been experiencing have provided idea conditions for the little critters. Having done battle with fleas (and won) several years, ago, I knew that it was important to attack the little devils from all angles. I used this trap as part of a multi-faceted plan. I treated the cats with a once-a-month flea killer, and before putting the traps around, I used a powder form of flea killer on my carpeting and sprayed in areas that were not carpeted. I vacuumed diligently. I also put moth balls in the vacuum cleaner bag to kill any survivors that made it that far.
As fleas lay eggs which continue to hatch after the adults die, you have to continue treatment for several weeks. While the carpet treatment seemed to be very helpful, I was stunned at how many fleas continued to make their way onto these incredible little traps. (I put three throughout my apartment.) The traps are very inexpensive to use as they only require the electricity to light a nightlight bulb. Weeks after starting treatment, I seem to be totally flea free. I have continued to treat the cats, and I will leave the traps in place until the fall or cold weather sets in for good as their presence is very reassuring and they continue to attract the sole survivors. I would recommend the traps to anyone as part of a plan for combatting a flea problem. If you allow the problem to get totally out of hand, you may have to resort to "bombs." If you address the problem asap, chances are these traps and a supplemental spray and/or carpet powder willbe all you need. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
