What a great invention!Oct 14, 2007
By GG1 A couple days ago, my dog had a growth removed from her upper front leg, and the vet said she needed to wear an e-collar for 14 days. I was really bummed, figured I'd probably need to drive home from work every day at lunch to let her outside to do her business because she is accustomed to going out the pet door whenever she needs to...and the standard plastic "lampshade" plastic e-collar won't allow that.
But oh so fortunately, a dear friend told me about the soft/blue flexible recovery collar. I bought one at the local emergency pet clinic that night, a little more expensive than here but OH SO WORTH IT. My dog doesn't seem to be bothered at all by the collar, she's not interested in her stiches, and she seems very comfortable, running around the house, jumping on and off the sofa & bed as usual. Can't recommend this highly enough!

Wish I'd known about these sooner!Apr 27, 2011
By bekalekah I don't write many reviews but had leave one for this product.
After a week in a hard plastic collar I began using one of these soft collars for my blind 7 month old kitten. The hard collar was difficult because it prevented her from using her whiskers to navigate and I think it also affected her hearing. She was bumping into things all the time and just generally a pathetic spectacle. Because this collar is soft it acts almost as an extension of her whiskers -- when she encounters an obstacle it gets pushed in, hits her whiskers and guides her along. It's almost like she's not wearing anything at all while still being effective at preventing her from scratching.
Another nice feature is being able to fold it back while eating rather than taking the collar off. This would be especially handy for animals who run when they see the collar. Never had that problem with my blind kitten ;) but it's still handy because that means I don't leave it off for too long allowing her to scratch herself.
The only minor drawback -- so minor that I won't even ding a star -- is that it's not as easy to clean as a plastic collar and probably won't last as long. But I'm ordering another right now to have on hand so I can put a clean one on when I wash the dirty one.
I wasn't sure if the x-small would be the right size for her. With the hard plastic collar, size 8 was too shallow and size 12 was too deep. But the x-small 4in fits her perfectly. Keep in mind she has an abnormally small head for her age -- an adult cat would probably need the next size up. If you're not sure, order both and give the one that doesn't fit to your local animal rescue group :)

Good product, esp. for small-breedsDec 21, 2008
By E. Andrews The collar is a great alternative to the stiff plastic e-collars that are often used. I used the XS for my dainty cat and it fit well. She had to wear it for more than 3 weeks and could get around with it on very well and didn't mind it much. And it also was very effective at keeping her from biting and scratching at her stitches.

Treat your petFeb 12, 2011
By med student This is waaaaay more comfy and dignified than that horrible plastic thing you get from the vet. I used this on a foster cat after she had an operation on her leg. This is the best deal I found and the most functional product. Recommended.
soft cat e-collarSep 27, 2010
By Feline friend This collar is quite effective in keeping my cat from scratching his ears. He is suffering from an unknown allergy and does excessive scratching and licking. I and two vets have not found the cause of the allergy and so I keep this collar on him for his own protection.
